Joining the 18thC Curtain-Along!

September 10, 2012

I've been toying with the idea of using the now famous Lowes chintz curtains for an 18thC project, but now that it's become a costuming movement, it was practically decided for me. The time is now, fellow costumers!

Not too long ago, Jen of Festive Attyre found a wonderful resource for 18th century style Indienne chintz - some curtains from Lowes! They are an absolutely perfect chintz, with large flowers and vibrant colours. The moment I saw the curtains in cream, I knew I had to make my favourite caraco with matching petticoat.

Smashing, isn't it? I'll need two curtain panels for this project, but thankfully, the cream is the least expensive of the curtain colorways. They also carry the curtains in crimson and noir, and Joann's carries the same fabric by the yard, but for three times the price, even with a coupon. Joann's does offer a few more color selections, though, so if you're really aching for that blue colorway, get yourself a 50% coupon, because even then it's rather expensive.

Anyway, I'll be scouring the internet for Lowe's coupons tonight, and buying the first panel tomorrow to get started on the project. I am so excited to see what everyone comes up with for this curtain-along!!!
