The rebellious tiara and the exasperated sitter

I am currently working on a Regency-era coral jewelry set, and in my research on tiaras I came across and curious and amusing peculiarity in paintings from the era.

Tiaras worn crookedly.

Was it on purpose? Probably. Why would they have their portraits painted if everything wasn't just how they wanted it?  Still, some of the sitters look really put out by their creeping tiaras.

Is it still up there? It feels like it's sliding.

I just can't get this thing to sit straight.

Just paint the picture, I'm sure it's fine.

Diagonal is in, right?

It feels like it's sliding. Is it sliding?
You'd tell me if it's sliding, right?

I give up.
